In Too Deep follows Detective Jeffrey Coles (Omar Epps), a recent police academy grad who manages to get an undercover assignment the day of graduation. Good at earning the trust of small-time drug dealers, he infiltrates the drug world in order to bring down a gangster named "God" (LL Cool J) who is responsible for 80% of the city's drug trade. But the deeper Coles involves himself in his new extended "family," the harder it becomes for him to decipher where his loyalties lie. In the process, he alienates himself from his superiors, his fellow officers, and even his girlfriend (Nia Long).The film is based on the true story of an officer of the Boston Housing Authority and Drug Enforcement Administration who went undercover to apprehend a major drug lord.
