Résumé:

This sad story begins with a young girl in her late teens, Rosetta (Dequenne), who has just lost her job in the factory because her trial period is over. She has little to comfort her, as her mother is a drunk who does nothing more than beg and sexually serve the manager of the trailer camp in which they live. As some go off to war, Rosetta once again starts to search for a job. Instead she meets Riquet (Rongione) who introduces her to the Belgian waffles business in a wagon. He also begins to court her in his own fashion. But treason and murder is on her mind, if not in her acts.
