Résumé:
An invisible narrator of Russian origin awakes in a palace in Saint-Pétersbourg during the 18th century. There he meets a French marquis of the 19th century who, like him, was found mysteriously propelled there. Together, they explore the immense palace, built under the reign of Catherine the Great, which becomes during the 20th century one of largest and most sumptuous museums in the world. While passing from one room to another, the two men change eras and witness various moments in Russia’s history.
