Résumé:

Tashi, a brilliant young monk who has just completed three years of solitary meditation, falls in love with Pema, a beautiful young woman. For the first time, Tashi questions the spiritual values of his monastic experience. He leaves the monastery where he has lived since the age of five and marries Pena. They have a child together, but he discovers different challenges in the outside world, such as his attraction to another woman and the jealousy of the man who was supposed to marry Pena. When a deliberately set fire nearly destroys his family, Tashi finds that life in Samsara (the world) is far more complex than he ever imagined.
