Synopsis

On a dairy farm in rural Quebec, Marie and Jean Santerre expect their son Simon, 17, to help with the chores. His half-hearted efforts annoy his father, while his mother is still resentful about the fact that his younger brother died under his supervision two years earlier. When another accident causes his father's death, Simon and his mother must learn to forgive.
