Jo Koy

Jo Koy Biography:

Joseph Glenn Herbert was born in Tacoma, Washington. His father was in the United States Air Force and met his mother while being stationed in the Philippines. His stage name Jo Koy is a nickname given to him by his family meaning "My Jo."

He began to pursue standup comedy while in university in Las Vegas. Jo eventually left school to move to Los Angeles in pursuit of his career in comedy. Jo credits all of his success to his mother, who is often joked about in his sets.

In 1989 Jo married Filipino-American singer Nura Luca. The couple has one son together, Joseph Herbert Jr., who was born in 2003. The couple eventually divorced in 2013. 

Jo has three Netflix Original Comedy Specials and was awarded the Stand-Up Comedian of The Year award at the 2018 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. Jo has broken several ticket sales records in Honolulu, San Francisco and Winnipeg. He has a #1 stand-up comedy album on the Billboard Charts.

He has appeared in over 100 episodes of Chelsea Lately and recently split from his girlfriend Chelsea Handler in July 2022. He has also appeared on shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Most recently Jo partnered with Paramount Pictures to produce a movie largely based on his own life, entitled Easter Sunday. He also has a weekly podcast called The Koy Pond.
