Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore Biography:

Born in Los Angeles, Drew Barrymore hails from a long line of talented actors. Daughter of John Barrymore Jr., Drew appeared in a television commercial before her first birthday and made her movie debut in 1980 in Ken Russell's Altered States. She won the hearts of moviegoers everywhere at the age of seven in Steven Spielberg's E.T.: The Extraterrestrial (1982) and followed that up with starring roles in Firestarter (1984) and Irreconciliable Differences (1984).

It was about that time that Barrymore's seemingly bright future took a turn for the worse. She had her first adult beverage when she was just nine years old, and was snorting cocaine by the time she was 12. She was confined to a rehab clinic after an attempted suicide and revealed the story of her tormented life a book titled Little Girl Lost.

Barrymore returned to the screen in 1989 and began a slow climb back into popularity with moderately successful films like See You In The Morning, Far From Home, and Poison Ivy. "I've been through way too much to be insecure," she says. "I've got huge balls. But I've been humbled. That makes you grateful for every day you have."

Films such as The Wedding Singer (1998) with Adam Sandler and Ever After (1998) made audiences fall in love with Barrymore all over again, and with her popularity at an all time high, she stepped into the producer's shoes for Charlie's Angels (2000), as well as playing a starring role. The film was a huge success and Barrymore returned for the sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003). She teamed up with Adam Sandler again for 50 First Dates (2004) and Jimmy Fallon in Fever Pitch (2005).

Having been nominated for a Golden Globe twice before (the first time when she was nine for Irreconciliable Differences), Barrymore was third time lucky—winning in 2010 for her work in the TV movie Grey Gardens. More recently, she starred in the Catherine Hardwicke drama Miss You Already (2015).

Drew has been married several times. Her first was to Jeremy Thomas, but the marriage lasted less than two years. Her second marriage was to Canadian comedian Tom Green, and in this case, they separated after five months and the marriage was dissolved shortly after.

Drew married art advisor Will Kopelman in June 2012 and they have two daughters together, Olive and Frankie.
