Shawn Hatosy

Shawn Hatosy Biography:

SHAWN HATOSY

Date of Birth: December 29, 1975

Maryland native Shawn Hatosy began acting in local commericals and theater before landing a role on NBC's Homicide right after graduation. The young actor had bit supporting parts in such films as Home for the Holidays and All Over Me before landing his breakout role in Frank Oz's comedy In and Out. Hatosy played the student who ultimately has the courage to stand up for recently outed teacher Kevin Kline.

But it was not until he starred in the Kevin Williamson/Robert Rodriguez sci-fi/teen horror film The Faculty that Hatosy began to gain recognition. Hatosy had a memorable role as the star of the football team longing to be more than just a jock, who ultimately ends up as one of the teens fighting off an alien invasion. Though The Faculty had the misfortune of arriving as the teen horror genre began running out of steam, it still managed to earn a respectable amount of money. Several of the cast members seemed to use the film as a stepping stone for bigger and better films, and Hatosy was no exception.

Hatosy followed up The Faculty with two high profile projects. His first film, the Farrelly Brothers' Outside Providence gave him the leading role of Tim Dunphy, a '70s teen getting into all sorts of trouble in his hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. The other film, Anywhere But Here cast him opposite Susan Sarandon and Natalie Portman.

In January 2000, he co-starred in Down To You with Freddie Prinze Jr., Julia Stiles and Selma Blair. He then appeared as the younger version of Nick Nolte's character in the critical and box office bomb, Simpatico. His other films since then include John Q (2002), starring Denzel Washington, A Guy Thing (2003) starring Julia Stiles and Public Enemies (2009), opposite Johnny Depp.

Hatosy, who plays tennis and guitar in his spare time, resides in Los Angeles.
