JOE MORTON

Date of Birth: October 18, 1947

Born in NYC, this African-Amercian actor made his stage debut at the age of 21 in Tom O'Horgan's historical Broadway musical Hair. Morton then went on to appear in Raisin, the musical adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun, which earned him a Tony Award. He won a second Tony award for the play Art, which also garnered him a New York Critics Circle Award.

His impressive theater resumé also includes A Midsummer Night's Dream and King John at the New York Shakespeare Festival, and productions of Cheapside, Electra, A Winter's Tale, Oedipus Rex, Julius Caesar and The Tempest.

He eventually made the transition to the small and large screens. Morton has appeared extensively on television, including lead roles in such series as New York News, Under One Roof, Tribeca and Equal Justice, as well as recurring or guest-starring roles on Homicide, A Different World and Touched by an Angel. He also found work in the TV movies Death Penalty, We're Fighting Back and the critically acclaimed HBO telefilm Miss Evers' Boys, in which he co-starred with Alfre Woodard and Laurence Fishburne.

His critically acclaimed feature film debut came in The Brother from Another Planet (1984), in which he played a non-verbal alien who learns about life on the streets of New York City, but he is best known as the scientist who researched cyborg components in Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991).

Morton also landed roles in such films as Tap (1989) costarring with Gregory Hines, Speed (1994), Executive Decision (1996), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), The Astronaut's Wife (1999), What Lies Beneath (2000) and Paycheck (2003). His latest and next biggest role is in Justice League (2017).

Morton lives in Montclair, New Jersey, with his wife Nora, their son Ara and daughter Seta. His oldest daughter Hopi and grandson Moses live in Brooklyn.
