Abbi Jacobson

Abbi Jacobson Biography:

Born in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Abbi Jacobson studied fine arts and video production at the Maryland Institute College of Art but transferred for a year to study stand-up comedy at Emerson College. Graduating in 2006 with a Bachelor in General Fine Arts, she moved to New York soon after and started taking classes with the Atlantic Theater Company and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.

When studying, she met Ilana Glazer, and the two started a web series in 2009 titled Broad City, which followed the two living in New York. The series caught the attention of FX Network, which ultimately didn't pick up the show but inspired the two to find a network that would. They found success after pitching the show to Comedy Central, and Broad City’s first television episode aired in 2014 — and has since become one of the network's highest-rated shows. Abbi starred on the show until 2019, when after five seasons, it came to an end.

During her time on the show, she continued to branch out, making guest appearances on many series such as Jest Originals, BoJack Horseman, Portlandia, and more. In 2018, she landed her next big recurring role on the Netflix show Disenchantment as the voice of Princess Bean, a role she continues today.

In 2022, Abbi created, wrote, and produced the Prime Video original show A League of Their Own — from a book by the same title, which follows the journey of an American professional women’s baseball team player who travels across the United States during WWII. The show was cancelled after one season due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, disappointing fans.

Along with her television success, Abbi has appeared on the big screen as well. Her film debut came in Revelation 13 (2009) as Danielle. Since then, she has been in films such as Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) as Jessica Baiers, The Lego Ninjago Movie as the voice of Nya, The Mitchells vs. the Machines (2021) as the voice of Katie Mitchell, and more.

Abbi has also published multiple books over the years. In 2013, she released two coloring books titled Color This Book: New York City and Color This Book: San Francisco. She went on to illustrate the book Carry This Book, which was published in 2016 and was a New York Times Bestseller. Her fourth book was published in 2018 and is titled I Might Regret This: Essays, Drawings, Vulnerabilities, and Other Stuff.

In 2023, Abbi will continue her role in Disenchantment’s fifth season, airing in September on Netflix.
