Michael Patrick King is an Emmy award-winning writer, director and producer who is most recognized for his work with Sex and the City.

King was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but in 1980, the 26-year-old moved to New York. While in New York, he performed stand-up comedy and wrote plays. King eventually moved to Los Angeles where he wrote for CBS's Murphy Brown and Cybill, NBC's Will & Grace, and HBO's The Comeback.

Although King rarely does stand-up or sketch comedy anymore, he has made minor appearances on the TV shows Sex and the City and Curb Your Enthusiasm. King's latest project was Sex and the City: The Movie (2008), which he wrote, directed and produced.

In 2002, King won an Emmy award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Sex and the City. King also shares a 2001 Emmy with his fellow Sex and the City producers for Outstanding Comedy Series.
