Katie Boland Biography:

KATIE BOLAND

Date of Birth: February 14, 1988

The daughter of Canadian film director Gail Harvey, Katie Boland was born in Toronto, Ontario. Growing up in the midst of the film industry, she knew at an early age that she wanted to be an actor. When she was eight, her mother gave in to Katie's pleadings and helped her get an agent. Katie's first role was in the CBS mini-series The Third Twin (1997), starring Kelly McGillis and Jason Gedrick. Her first time working with her mother as her director was in Striking Poses (1999), starring Shannon Doherty.

Katie played young Ellie Nesler (Christine Lahti played the older version) in Judgment Day: The Ellie Nesler Story (1999). The following year, she became a regular on the children's puppet TV series Noddy. Following a guest appearance on the Disney Channel series In a Heartbeat, Katie landed the regular role of Gwen on YTV/Fox Family Channel's The Zach Files. The show, aimed at pre-teens, lasted for two seasons and gave her another chance to work with her mother, who directed several episodes. Katie also found time to do another CBS TV movie called One True Love (2000) starring David Hasselhoff.

Playing Annie Putnam, the ringleader of a group of girls who develop mass hysteria and begin accusing adults of witchcraft in the CBS miniseries Salem Witch Trials, gave Katie the chance to work with acclaimed actors such as Kirstie Alley, Peter Ustinov and Shirley MacLaine. Additionally, Katie won a 2004 Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a TV Movie/Miniseries.

Her first starring film role came with the independent feature Some Things That Stay (2004), directed by her mother. The role as Tamara, a young teenage girl going through major changes in her life, was Katie's favorite to date. In October 2004 she flew to Sudbury to film a role as Shania Twain's older sister Jill in a CBC biopic about the Canadian singer, then returned to Toronto to take on a regular role in a new drama series called Terminal City.

Although she has a manager in Los Angeles and spends part of the year there auditioning during pilot season, Katie's home is in Toronto with her mother. She enjoys hanging out with friends, going to the gym, reading, watching movies and shopping.
