Synopsis

Grace (Madelyn Dundon), a teenage girl dying of cancer, crashes a funeral home to find out what will happen to her after she dies. Her carefree ways and light-hearted questions about death unnerve the awkward funeral director, Bill Jankowski (Daniel Roebuck), who threatens to call the police if she doesn't leave.

Unfazed, Grace tries out the coffins and asks if she can ride in a hearse. Bill slowly gets used to her devil-may-care attitude in the face of death. Grace also manages to get a class offered by her hospital for children dealing with fatal diseases moved to the funeral home.

Meanwhile, Grace is desperately trying to prepare her mother, Venus (Marsha Dietlein), for the inevitability of losing her only child. Venus is not dealing with the news well and has returned to her old ways of coping through alcohol and drugs. Grace is hoping to find someone who will take care of her mother when she passes, whether it's Bill, Reverend Osburn or Ron, the author of a book about the afterlife.
