Synopsis

Dr. Jean-Pierre Werner, a country doctor, takes great pride in the close relationships he maintains with his patients, listening to them and reassuring them as he visits at their homes. But his world collapses the day he learns he has inoperable brain cancer. To lighten his workload between his chemotherapy treatments, his doctor sends former nurse Nathalie Delezia, who has just completed her internship as a doctor, to help Dr. Werner.

Initially not very collaborative, the older doctor ends up forming an increasingly deep relationship with this new colleague. But they have a falling out when the latter decides to hospitalize an old man whom Dr. Werner had promised to take care of at home.
