Synopsis

It’s the day of famous writer Victor Adelman’s funeral. Fleeing the guests, his widow Sarah finds refuge with journalist Antoine Grillot. The aspiring biographer wants to tell the true life story of the couple and is hoping Sarah will give him the details. She reveals the great novelist’s laborious beginnings in the 1970s, then his public success and his literary glory, obtained after he adopted the surname and history of his Jewish in-laws.

In fact, Victor, contrary to popular belief, came from a very Catholic and bourgeois background. Sarah, who is suspected of having caused the death of her husband, doesn’t hesitate to evoke the latter's less flattering traits, and her complicated relations with their son, born with a severe mental disability.
