Synopsis

Polina, a young Russian girl, is admitted to the prestigious Bolshoi ballet school. Under the tutelage of stern ballet master Bojinski, the girl commands respect through her grace and discipline. Years later, as she prepares to audition at age 18 for the Bolshoi Ballet Company, Polina is drawn to a contemporary dance company from Aix-en-Provence that’s travelling through Moscow.

Polina breaks her parents’ hearts when she and her boyfriend Adrien, a French classmate, leave for Aix, where the duo successfully pass the entrance exam to be part of the famous choreographer Liria Elsaj’s company. Liria advises Polina to unlearn the classical dance techniques that have become second nature, to develop new ways of moving. But Polina struggles in vain to do what Liria asks and eventually leaves Aix and, after a long journey, finds herself in Antwerp, Belgium, where her destiny takes a new turn.
