Synopsis

Lorient, a small town in Brittany, has seen better days. During a routine medical examination at her high school, Camille tells the nurse she may be pregnant. Then she shares the secret with her closest friends, who assure her of their support if she decides to keep the child. Her mother strongly opposes Camille keeping the child, but she can't legally stop her. When Florence tells Camille that she's also expecting a baby, the unpopular girl manages to integrate into the group of girlfriends, who come up with a crazy idea: all 17 of them should get pregnant at the same time and raise the children in their own community. Even little Clementine, Camille's best friend, manages to find a boy to impregnate her, though her friends fear she's too fragile to survive a pregnancy. Furious when he finds out what's happening, Camille's authoritarian father sequesters his daughter at his inn to prevent her from mixing with the other girls, who are deemed irresponsible by Lorient's adult population.
