Synopsis

In Moscow 1922, the young Sergei Eisenstein joins the Meyerhold troop, the Master of the Soviet revolutionary theatre, hoping it will lead him towards a career in playwriting. By the time he is 27, Eisenstein produces the play Potemkine Battleship, which is triumphant. At the beginning of 1930, he goes to Mexico with his colleague and the two fall in love. The escapades of Eisenstein causes an interruption in completing his project That Viva Mexico City. When he returns to Moscow, the successful playwrite is forced to write Alexandre Nevski, an ode to the glory of Stalin. Eisenstein is avenged by depicting the dictator like a monster in the second part of his Ivan the Terrible.
