Grey Owl

Synopsis

Based on a true story, Grey Owl is the story of Archibald Belaney, an Englishman who emigrated to Canada in 1906, and worked as a trapper, guide and forest ranger. Attempting to preserve ecology, he masquerades as an Ojibway Indian, dons the persona of Grey Owl and pleads to the British Empire about the native land's vanishing wildnerness.

The fact that he was not a real Indian was not uncovered until after his death in 1936. He is remembered as being the father of the conservation movement, having gained international recognition in the 1930s for his writings and lectures on the Canadian north and dedicating his life to preserving Canada's pristine wilderness areas.
