During a dinner with friends, Laurent, an architect in his fifties, suddenly experiences a terrible backache. The situation worsens over the following days. The specialists he consults can’t find anything physically wrong with him. One of them even suggests that the pain is psychosomatic. At the same time, Laurent’s wife, Elise, accuses him of faking it.
Laurent gradually comes to realize that in order to find a cure for the pain, he must solve the problems he’s encountered in his work, in his relationship, and in his life in general.
