Synopsis

Claude is a quiet, 16-year-old boy who usually sits at the back of his class. But he's got a unique gift for writing and he puts it to use when he befriends a classmate, enters the boy's home posing as a tutor and then records his observations in a series of essays, which he submits to his French literature teacher, Germain. A man disgruntled by his students' lackluster writing abilities, Germain is immediately taken back by Claude's writing and works with him one-on-one to develop the story further.

As the plot thickens, Germain gets pulled in deeper and deeper, sharing the pages of the story with his wife (Kristin Scott Thomas). However, the teacher’s new enthusiasm only encourages the boy’s intrusion in the house and in the family, causing a series of uncontrollable events to unfold and essentially blurring the lines between fiction and reality.

French with English subtitles.
