Synopsis

With his marriage in crisis, Maxime, the owner of a private ambulance company, finds out that his mother is in jail. He takes a welcome break from his marital woes to get his mother and take her home. This gives him a chance to spend a weekend at the family farmhouse on the outskirts of Paris. While his father Jacques slowly recovers from a stroke, his mother Olga, via a clandestine support network, is temporarily raising a young boy named Tiemoko, the son of undocumented Africans who have been placed in a detention center. Between the arguing retirees and the mute boy who refuses to remove his hood despite the September heat, Maxime witnesses his quarrelsome but kind-hearted parents’ happiness and it gives him reflection on his own family situation.
