Synopsis

Since his wife’s death in 1985, Nicolas, a trucker, has raised his two daughters, Suzanne and Maria, to the best of his ability. At 17, Suzanne gets pregnant and decides to keep the baby, much to her father’s chagrin. A few years later, while his younger daughter, Maria, is working at a textile factory and living a quiet life, Suzanne leaves her job as a secretary at the trucking company that employs her father to be with Julien, a small-time crook with whom she’s fallen in love. The young impulsive mother abandons her young son Charlie to the care of Maria and Nicolas.
