Synopsis

Based on a true story, in 1969, a satellite dish in Parkes, Australia served as a backup relay between NASA and Apollo 11 during their historic mission to the moon. But when there is a last-minute flight schedule change it is up to Australia to broadcast man walking on the moon to the entire world.

To prepare the Australians for the big event, a representitive from NASA (Warburton) is sent. But a week before the launch, tension rises between him and the scientists (Neill, Long, Harrington) as cultures clash.

After Apollo XI takes off, disaster strikes when they loose contact with the ship. To save their reputations, the three scientists, the American and the Australian Prime Minister (Brown) work together to try and relocate the craft. And to make matters worse, a dangerous freak storm hits.
