Synopsis
Real-life sisters Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning play two sisters living in France, who are torn apart at the beginning of World War II.
In 1939, in a quiet French town, Vianne Mauriac (Dakota Fanning) says goodbye to her soldier husband, who is leaving for the Front. Vianne doesn't believe the Nazis will invade France, but to her surprise and dismay, they do, complete with planes that drop bombs on innocent civilians.
Meanwhile, her younger sister Isabelle (Elle Fanning) joins the Resistance and in the process, risks her life many times to save the lives of others.
