Plusieurs cinéastes de renom se feront la compétition à Cannes cette année. La 61e édition du Festival a en effet dévoilé sa programmation ce matin lors d'une conférence de presse. Clint Eastwood, Atom Egoyan, Wim Wenders, Charlie Kaufman, Steven Soderbergh font partie ces cinéastes qui y présenteront de nouvelles œuvres. Tout comme la rumeur le voulait, le quatrième Indiana Jones, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls sera présenté hors compétition, tout comme le film d'animation Kung Fu Panda et le nouveau Woody Allen intitulé Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Le jury de la compétition officielle cette année sera composé de Sean PENN, Président (Acteur, réalisateur, scénariste américain), Sergio CASTELLITTO (Acteur, réalisateur, scénariste italien), Natalie PORTMAN (Actrice israélo-américaine), Alfonso CUARON (Réalisateur mexicain), Apichatpong WEERASETHAKUL (Réalisateur thaïlandais), Alexandra Maria LARA (Actrice allemande), Rachid BOUCHAREB (Réalisateur français). En tout, Cannes présentera 54 longs métrages représentant 31 pays de productions différents (20 films en Compétition,19 films à Un Certain Regard) et 53 premières mondiales. Le festival aura lieu du 14 au 25 mai.
