Hors compétition on retrouvera des cinéastes aussi variés que Zwigoff (avec son Bad Santa), Godard, Tarantino, Wolfgang Petersen et même le Dawn of the Dead de Zack Snyder. Le jury cette année sera composé de Quentin Tarantino, Président, Emmanuelle Beart, l’écrivain américain Edwidge Danticat, Tilda Swinton, Kathleen Turner, l’acteur et scénariste belge Benoît Poelvoorde, Jerry Schatzberg, Hark Tsui et Peter Von Bagh, critique finlandais.
Le festival ne sera pas en manque de stars puisqu’on devrait y voir : Charlize Theron, Agnès Jaoui, Ashley Judd, Maggie Cheung, Emily Watson, Sophie Marceau, Zhang Yiyi, Cameron Diaz, Michelle Williams, Penelope Cruz, Emmanuelle Devos, Naomi Watts, Uma Thurman, Beatrice Dalle. Chez les hommes, aux côtés de Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks et Eddie Murphy qui viennent pour la première fois, la Croisette accueillera Sean Penn, Alain Chabat, Kevin Kline, Gael Garcia Bernal, Tony Leung, Jean-Pierre Bacri, Sergio Castelllito, Nick Nolte, Geoffrey Rush, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Vincent Perez, John Leguizamo.
