DON MCKELLAR

Date of Birth: August 17, 1963

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Don McKellar has had a truly varied career as an actor, a film and theatre director, and screenwriter and playwright.

He won a 2006 Tony award for co-writing the book for the hit Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone. He has directed, written and acted in two feature films: Last Night, for which he won two Genies, a Canadian Comedy award, and an Award of the Youth for Best Foreign Film at the Cannes Film Festival; and Childstar.

As a writer, McKellar has won two Writers Guild of Canada awards - in 2009 for the feature film Blindness and in 1999 for an episode of Twitch City.

As an actor, he won a Genie for his supporting role in Exotica. Other film and TV roles include Where the Truth Lies, Existenz, Cooking with Stella and a supporting role in the wonderfully funny television series Slings and Arrows, for which he received a Gemini award nomination.

More recently, Don starred in Zoom (2016) with Gael García Bernal and Alison Pill, 2017's Blood Honey, and lent his voice to the animated film Window Horses (2017) with Ellen Page and Sandra Oh. In 2018, he played opposite Sandra Oh in the Canadian film Meditation Park(2018).
