Born in Calgary, Alberta, Elisha Ann Cuthbert later moved with her family to Longueuil, Quebec, on Montreal's southern bank. At the age of seven Elisha began modeling, then from 1997 to 2000 she was a correspondent for the informational television series Popular Mechanics for Kids. While continuing with the show, she made several appearances in feature films such as Nico the Unicorn (1998), Airspeed (1998) and Time at the Top (1999), in which she co-starred opposite Timothy Busfield.
In 1999, while still working for Popular Mechanics for Kids, she became a regular on another kids' series as well, Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?, playing Megan. She kept up her work in features and TV movies and in 2001, won a Gemini Award for her lead role in the CTV movie Lucky Girl, later shown in the U.S. on the Lifetime network. Soon after she landed the role that would catapult her to fame: playing fellow Canadian Kiefer Sutherland's daughter Kim in the Fox network series 24. Minor roles in the feature comedies Old School (2003) and Love Actually (2003) were followed by her first starring role in a feature film with The Girl Next Door(2004).
The remainder of the 2000s brought Elisha work in the horror flick House of Wax (2005) with Chad Michael Murray and Paris Hilton, the crime drama The Quiet (2005) with Edie Falco, the thriller He Was a Quiet Man (2007) with Christian Slater and William H. Macy, the romcom My Sassy Girl (2008) with Jesse Bradford, and the comedy The Six Wives of Henry Lefay (2009) with Tim Allen.
She went back to TV in 2010 for the crime drama series The Forgotten with Christian Slater, and stayed there for the Chicago-set comedy series Happy Endings between 2011 and 2013.
Her latest film credits include the dramedy Just Before I Go (2014) with Seann William Scott and the sport comedy Goon: Last of the Enforcers (2017) with T.J. Miller and Liev Schreiber.
Elisha makes her home in Los Angeles. She was engaged to longtime boyfriend Trace Ayala in 2004, but broke it off in 2005.
