Calamity, a Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary

Synopsis

United States, 1863. On her way to Oregon in a pioneer wagon train, Martha Jane, the 12-year-old daughter of a poor widower, is falsely accused of theft on the same day the Cavalry lieutenant who served as their guide disappears. To clear her name, Martha Jane sets out on horseback in search of this officer and to find the things he stole from the travelers. In the mountains, when the young girl, who has cropped hair and is wearing trousers, is mistaken for a boy by a teenaged thief named Jonas, the two team up.
