Synopsis

Ben, the author of a novel that had limited success, has been working for several years as a literature professor at a Montreal university. One of his students, Mercedes, shares his passion for "The Lady with the Dog," the famous story by Chekhov. Trapped in a boring routine with his children and his wife, who’s annoyed by his literary ambitions, Ben gives in to Mercedes’ advances. But the young woman’s changing moods sometimes make him mad with desire, sometimes furious.
