Synopsis

The sole survivor of a mass execution years earlier in which her boyfriend was killed before her eyes during a civil war in Quebec, Valerie, a hospital orderly, finds friendship with an invalid patient named Jeanne, who shares her passion for books. But Valerie’s efforts to find love with a new partner, Gabriel, and move forward are thwarted by distressing visions linked to her past, as well as by an unexpected meeting with the executioner who’d spared her, and who has taken up residence in her neighborhood.
